When I was in Romania...
There I "met" this poet, fortunately in the guesthouse there was some of her books and as I didn't have any of books with me (it's hard to put a book in 3 kg. backpack), I decided to read her poetry; Spoiler Alert: it was a very good decision :)
Great Goddesses: Life Lessons from Myths and Monsters
"From the bones of chaos, rose a girl who built Universe, the stars, the planets, all because she was looking for a place to dance."
"What is more powerful than a women who know all about the blessed fires inside them that grow."
"All Children are bore equally innocent, but all children are not equally loved.."
"No one ever told him monsters aren't simply born- monsters are created by those who nurture them".
"Perhaps magic is in the habit of choosing sharp eyed girls who ask too many questions for their own good. Perhaps, it chooses girls who are not unloved, but not fully loved either."
"The problem with a mother's love is that it is so unconditional that her grief becomes unconditional too."
"Every God has a bet
to catch you mid misstep,
because it unnerves them
how you are both wisdom and woman."
"Why not? We only have forever."
"Because you think monsters are easier to understand than women who say No to you"
"Perhaps a World where a father can kill a beloved daughter for a war is not a good world to be part of after all".
How To Be a Revolution of a Girl A Manifesto
You can be a revolution even when you are only twelve years old. Even when you think you are too small, you can do this:
1. When the boy in your class pulls your hair like it is a rope on the playground and the teacher dismisses it with ‘Oh, he must like you’, you look her in the eye and say, ‘People who like you do not hurt you – and you shouldn’t encourage that.’
2. When the school bus driver leers too long at you, turning your body into a feast for his eyes, do not hide yourself away in shame. Instead tell him as you get off the bus that you bet he has a daughter your age and men glare at her the same way.
3. When the boys in class draw all the women teachers on their knees before men on the blackboard, you do not join in with nervous laughter. Ignore their jeers, pick the duster up and erase their misogyny before their eyes.
4. When someone grabs at your chest ‘accidentally’ in the cafeteria, you slap that hand as hard as you can. 5. When boys pull at your bra straps to let them land on your skin with stinging snaps, do not run. Instead, claw at their hands. Let them know if they lay their hands on you, their hands will come back wounded.
6. Teach your baby brother how to do little things like make his own bed and tidy things away – teach him that these aren’t ‘girl things’.
7. Be inconvenient. Raise your hand despite their groans. Voice your opinions. Enter debates. Classrooms are not only boys’ domains.
8. If they sigh and say, ‘Boys will be boys,’ to justify why boys get to do what you don’t, smile sweetly and say, ‘And girls will be girls.’ Then do what you want anyway.
